Mushibugyou First Impression

Episodes watched: 1 & 2, Subber used: [Horriblesubs 1080p]

The story Is set in a world and time period of japan where things are a little easier to be abstract and weird, in this case Giant Human killing Insects. While using this era it is easier for the characters to be able to have various “styles” and techniques. Speaking of the Characters, the characters in Mushibugyou are nice and unique towards each other but not so much that the character styles aren’t seen in other anime. The protagonist Jinbei has a very strong hearted and firey passion as a character, the other characters are positioned in the anime to possibly grow around him and help him develop as a character aswell. Usually in a good fighting anime the protagonist or the mains are overwhelmingly strong and beat up unbeatable opponents but retain that their strength is not the best, in Mushibugyou however even though Jinbei is Strong (mostly dude to the cliché “emotional” strength) he is very weak and pathetic compared to that of the other characters probably showing that his character will become much stronger and be on par with the others.

The anime is clearly a action fighting but like most good anime it has comedy, the comedy in this anime is so far, stuck towards the interactions to the female characters being it the overly large boobs distracting the characters or when Jinbei got blown up twice for looking at hibachi naked. Other than the common girl related comedy Jinbei himself is also quite comedic because of his overall attitude as an extreme samurai. When the anime isn’t in a comedic state it has a very terrifying and serious mood due to the whole giant insects killing/eating people, the actual fighting and insects are pretty graphical, the bodies and dead animals aren’t soften and are clearly shown horrifically reminding the viewers that this IS a action fighting anime. The art itself in terms of the characters freely moving about is quite the normal modern age anime art, apart from the slender necks and unique faces for some characters its not that different, however the backgrounds and nature themselves taken away from the human characters is quite exquisite for example even the look of a leaf fluttering after being moved by the wind looks very smooth and gives a some what realistic feel, but my favourite artistic parts of this anime would have to be when the action comes out and a somewhat “Gurren Lagann” like background and character animation comes into play, the badassery that puts the art in this special stage is quite the mover and really gets you into the fiery passion of the characters, behind this of course is the seemingly well fitted ROCK style music that plays in a even more badass way.

Out of the 2013 spring anime I recommend this one to anybody looking for a good action anime that is badass enough for you to be shocked in awe but not too serious that you don't have time to be comfortable and laugh about.

Personal Note: THE GIRL Oharu HAS SUCH NICE OPPAI XD, I think she will be one of my favs.  This anime shows a good amount of skin bit is DEFNATELY not over the top. The character that interested me the most is Shingiku Koikawa the dual sword user, he looks like the most fun and BADASS guy out of them all.

Rating: so far… 8 out of 10
